It was a quiet birthday weekend. I had already planned to leave Melbourne on the Saturday night and take the overnight Greyhound to Adelaide for a couple of days before the intrepid trip across to Perth.

Meandering Around Melbourne
Today was a day for seeing some more of Melbourne. Despite spending as much time as I have in the city there are still things I haven’t seen and today was all about finding some of those things. Starting early I headed into the city on the train, getting off at Jolimont (the pretty hill) and wandering across to Fitzroy Gardens.

Three Days in Daylesford
The town of Daylesford rests in the foothills of the Great Dividing Range. It is a spa town roughly equidistant between Bendigo and Ballarat and like it’s more famous neighbours was the site of a goldmine. Founded in 1852 the town was originally called Wombat but was changed to Daylesford after the town in England.

Parks and Rec
It’s a glorious Melbourne morning. I meet up with Chris and Jean in Federation Square for the day. A nice long walk down to the Domain Parkland. It’s a perfect day for this. Not too hot but a good dose of insect repellent is needed here. The flies are gathering in numbers, as is their want around the flora and fauna.
