Spent the day in DC. Matt and I had to drive round most of Alexandria to find somewhere to park to get the Metro in. The US is definitely not geared up for those with cars to use public transport. A distinct lack of parking at the Metro stations suggests that you should either own a car or use public transport, not both.

The beauty and splendour of Washington DC. The power the city holds is not lost on the architecture. Everything is big, bold and beautiful.

The delights of Alexandria today and a trip to Mount Vernon, former home of George Washington. A wonderful house set in some very picturesque gardens on the banks of the Potomac River. A splendid day indeed.

Spending Thanksgiving in Fredericksburg, VA. One of the better to spend time in the USA when first visiting the fine country and state of Virginia.

Pub crawl day. Starting at “The Pub”, a decent little redneck bar in the strip mall. Then to Buffalo Moe’s, a sports bar with a mass of TV screens and a centre bar. Had some bacon cheese fries there although the fries were a little on the uncooked side. Everything is drowned in fat.

The previous night had been really good. Matt got a bit lost getting back from the airport but we did have to take a trip to Vienna to get a pair of new tyres due to him getting a puncture on the way to pick me up. It was an experience and meant I got to see lots of Virginia at night!

In the air again. This time to Dulles Airport, Washington DC. Finally get to go and see Matt and Melissa, assuming that is if the US customs let me in. Films aren’t up to much on the flight. Started on the Manchurian Candidate, the new one with Denzel Washington.
