Birthdays, Hot Days and a Tight Arse
The pleasures of a birthday party. Plans for Georgie’s birthday bash had been in motion for a few days and after Will and I emptied out the local Dan Murphey’s we stored all the ice, beer and white wine in the bath and the vodka in the freezer except for one bottle which had been emptied into a watermelon.
What a night! The beauty of having a birthday on a Saturday night in January meant the pleasures of beer, mates and a barbie.
Sunday afternoon and Georgie and I had mostly cleaned up. Will didn’t appear till much later having been nursing a hangover of epic proportions which was no surprise to anyone who heard his “speech”.
Monday and the heat and humidity was oppressive. A hot wind blew down Southbank and I headed for the shelter of Crown Casino. This is one of those wonderful places. One very large casino and hotel complex that is used by those who don’t need to ask about prices. Shops, restaurants and bars and spread liberally around.
There is some excellent food to be found in Crown. Particularly the Oriental and Eastern foods. One large plate of anything costs very little and I have also sampled one of the most delightful Passion Fruit Cheesecakes ever tasted by man.
To keep away from the heat for a while longer I also sampled the cinema in Crown. Elektra appeared to be the only movie and since it is Tight Arse Tuesday (cinemas being half-price on a Tuesday) the price matched the quality of the movie.
