Australia Day
Funny how popular culture can somehow pass you by. I had, up until the joy of Australia Day, never heard of Spongebob Squarepants. After a trip to the cinema I now have. Not only have I heard of Spongebob but also seen his movie.
So, it’s Australia Day and it’s bloody hot. The morning on this fine day was spent in the cinema at Northland, coupled with a little shopping. What a fun movie it was too! Whether I ever see any of the TV series remains to be seen but, for now, I’m content with the movie.
The afternoon of Australia Day was spent in the outdoor pool. Swimming a few lengths, larking around and generally having a good time. A little too much of a good time given how I felt afterwards. Dehydrated and slightly burnt.
A trip to Coles and a bottle of Thorpedo later and I was fine again. It’s amazing what a branded bottle of water can do for the system to rehydrate. Thorpedo is proving to be far better than the Powerade products.
A splendid Aus Day was rounded off with a barbie. How wonderfully typical. We should really have started a new penal colony since 26th January is the day the first settlers arrived from Britain with a bunch of convicts. Of course, back in 1788 things were different and this is 2005.
