When not to take a ferry to Manly
Avoid the queues, don’t waste hard earned dollars on a nostalgic cruise around Sydney Harbour. Simply take the ferry to Manly and enjoy all the same views, scenery and pleasures that the First Fleet arrived at 217 years ago.
Yes, the ferry to Manly is the way to go. Or maybe not.
The Manly ferry is best done when its not raining, isn’t during the evening rush hour and subsequently not already starting to get dark. There are better times to go to Manly and this is one of the not-so-good times.
Manly looks good at night. I think. Manly in the rain isn’t so good. Manly is best avoided in the rain and at night. Manly Beach isn’t what you’d think it was. With rain and no sun it was somewhat deserted.
Still, there is the ferry and if you’re looking for a cheap way to take a boat ride then the Manly ferry really is the way to go. Just pick a better time than we did.

Spent the night at World Bar. Mixing beer with Baileys for some bizarre reason that I now cannot remember. Guess someone else was paying! Me? Buying Baileys? That would never happen. Pulling off some good pool shots as well. The old magic is coming back, or maybe everything just looked better.
Met this crazy ass Aboriginal guy, totally Westernised to the point of tracksuits and gold chains. He also despised all Pink Floyd music with David Gilmour, something I discovered after High Hopes had been played on the jukebox. Best not to mention that I put it on.
Very probably going to be spending a bit of time in Bronte since Viv came through with all the promises of flat-sitting for a while. Of course, this is Viv so anything could happen.
