Blackpool Aims to Clean Up the Streets

Stag and Hen Parties in Blackpool can expect to conform to a Code of Conduct in the future. While the English coastal town is famed for its illuminations and quaint seaside appeal Blackpool has also become a haven for drunken debauchery from young men and women out for a night on the town.

Blackpool Aims to Clean Up the StreetsBlackpool council has produced the new Code of Conduct in order to curb some of the unruly and noisy behaviour of the drinkers without wanting them to not enjoy themselves.

Visitors will be asked to respect the town, the beach, local residents and other visitors. Clean and inoffensive are the key words being used in a series of leaflets and pamphlets produced by Blackpool Council and available in all good hotels, bars, clubs and pubs.

Peter Callow, leader of Blackpool Council, said, “This code sets a tone and standard for the town. It’s all about reassuring people that they can come to Blackpool and thoroughly enjoy themselves without the threat of unacceptable behaviour.”

Of course, when trouble starts, as it often does, Blackpool police will deal with situations but there will also be a “Decorum Squad” to help keep Blackpool clean and respectable. Police will be able to ask people to leave and not return for a minimum of 48 hours.

This is all part of the Clean Up Blackpool campaign, which has seen family visitors drop over the past few years. A lap-dancing club has been forced to remove an offensive sign.

Blackpool’s Code of Conduct is:

Keep it clean – Respect the beach, the streets and other people’s property; keep it clean for everyone; we all like to have fun but think of others and keep your fun, good clean fun.
Keep control – We want a town that feels free, safe and easy going, don’t spoil it by drinking too much or using threatening behaviour.
Keep smiling – Blackpool is a happy, place – share it with others!
Keep coming back – We love our visitors – see you next time!

Meanwhile, elsewhere in the world…

On the subject of conduct, a man in the US has been arrested for enjoying a flight too much. Alan Michael Froula was on a flight from Louisville to Kentucky, listening to his iPod and, allegedly, fondling himself throughout the flight as well as exposing himself.

Those wanting to enjoy flights that much should remember to use a blanket or coat to cover themselves.
