Lincoln Memorial

Little by little I see more of Washington DC. From early visits to the America History museum and walks around downtown DC, to a brief visit to the excellent Spy Museum. This time around I wanted to see the Lincoln Memorial and visit the National Cemetery at Arlington.

A wonderful day, although marginally on the cold side, Matt and I drove up to DC and took a pleasant walk around the Lincoln Memorial. The vast statue of Abraham Lincoln looks out to Capital Hill, across the Reflecting Pool. The Washington Monument blocks that view a little. Around the area are the Jefferson Memorial, another giant statue and numerous memorials to the American soldiers who have died in the defence of their country and democracy.
