Back to Australia

It is, with great pleasure, that I will be returning to Australia later this year. Thanks mostly to a wedding invitation I will be spending another Christmas in Australia. Another 6 weeks of fun and exploration without really knowing where I want to go this time around.

Flights were booked a short while ago. The only minor change this time will be flying with Qantas to Australia although everything was booked through British Airways. However, BA will be taking me from Manchester to Heathrow. I just hope that the flight isn’t cancelled this time around as it was in January.

Having not yet been to Western Australia it would be wrong of me not to go there this time around. I had looked at Darwin and the Top End but in December the weather reports don’t look all that good. Northern Australia is never best in the southern hemisphere’s summer. There’s a lot of rain.

With a wedding in Daylesford, Victoria, and a few days with family in and around Melbourne the first week is taken care of. I also want to be in Sydney for the change-over of 2009 to 2010 and see a little more of New South Wales.

I’ve learnt a lot about Australia since I was last there in 2005. The history of Australia is rich and varied and doesn’t take long to learn (compared to English history). There are places from stories I want to see. Norfolk Island now being one such port of call.

So how about a slow road along the south coast from Melbourne to Perth then hopping back across to Sydney?

Seems like a fun idea.
