Feels good to be back in Melbourne. The city feels like home in its own way. I know it well enough to get around.
The flight over was one of the better ones. Manchester to Heathrow left early, arrived early and gave me enough time to get from Heathrow’s Terminal 5 to 3. The flight to Melbourne was with Qantas this time and they proved to be far better than BA had been. It didn’t matter that I was right at the back of the plane. The entertainment selections were better, the food was better and the flight attendants were much more fun than BA’s.
Arriving early morning in Melbourne I was initially amazed at the size of Southern Cross Station. It’s been a few years since I was last here and back then the station was still being rebuilt. I nearly got on the wrong train (an express rather than an every stop) but eventually made it up to Northcote and, having showered and changed, headed back into the city.
Briefly met with K&H before having lunch with Will. Now it’s afternoon and the flight is catching up with a little. The enjoyment of being here again keeps me going.
The plans this time around. The K&H wedding in Daylesford at the end of this week, some more tourist fun in Melbourne and then it’s across to Adelaide for the trip to Perth across the south coast all neatly bookended with some cricket.
