A day at the Adelaide Oval
I gave myself a couple of days in Adelaide in order to visit one of the best cricket grounds in the world, the Adelaide Oval, before it loses it’s old identity and becomes another combined footy and cricket ground.
The West Indies were batting all day on this fourth day of the 2nd test in the series against Australia. Despite an expected Australian dominance they had been 12 runs behind after the first innings. By Day 4 the West Indies looked they might make a game of this but instead batted slowly and carefully, behaving as though they wanted to protect the wicket rather than score runs.
It was a pleasant day’s play though. Chris Gayle eventually hit a ton and wickets fell sporadically throughout the day.
West Indies started the day on 0/23 and ended it 8/248. The match would ultimately end in a draw.
