Nullarbor Traveller Day 5 and Day 6

Time to rest in Lucky Bay, one of the most beautiful beaches with clear blue waters, around Cape Le Grand. Wild kangaroos are around and happy to share their space with the people.

Whilst exploring the south coast in 1802, Captain Matthew Flinders sailed a dangerous route through the Recherche Archipelago. He named Lucky Bay when his vessel, HMS Investigator, took shelter here from a storm. Coastal pigface and other salt resistant plants cling to windswept dunes that circle the bay.

Wild kangaroos live here along with other animals (a big old goanna also walked by on the first day).

The beach is almost pure silica making it one of the most perfect beaches in the world. Better than Whitehaven Beach (though with more seaweed), heat the sand up enough and you’ll have some good glass. With 5Km of beach there’s plenty of room for everyone who wants peace and tranquillity.
