Broncos @ 49ers @ Wembley
The fourth year of the NFL in Wembley Stadium and the best game yet. After a slow first half the 49ers and Broncos started finding the endzone and some big plays. The whole weekend became a bigger and better NFL event in Wembley. Starting with the Fan Rally in Trafalgar Square, passing through the Tailgate party in the shadow of Wembley Stadium and culminating with the game itself.
From the Fan Rally in Trafalgar Square, Marissa Miller talks about her love of the 49ers, the 49ers drumline do their thing and head coach Mike Singletary tells us all about his job.
On game day the Tailgate bash provides some entertainment with more food, exhibitions and the 49ers drumline again.
Pre game player warm ups were presented by Visa (More people go with Visa). As Wembley Stadium slowly fills Broncos punter Britton Colquitt and kicker Matt Prater exercise their legs before all the players come onto the field for a warm up including the supreme Broncos safety Brian Dawkins.
The cheerleaders and 49ers drumline do their thing as part of the of pre game show and although obscured by the stage popular beat combo My Chemical Romance perform their latest song from the hit parade.
Onto game time and the players arrive again onto the pitch, some of the 49ers take a moment to pray in the endzone and one third of Destiny’s Child sings the American National Anthem. Guitar legend Jeff Beck then provides a humiliating rendition of the English National Anthem. Jerry Rice and John Elway were honorary captains for the coin toss.
49ers kicker Joe Nedney gets the game under way and we’re treated to a quiet first half and frenetic second half with some big plays and most scoring done at the far end of the ground. The 49ers coming from behind to win it 26-14.
